Michigan: "Christians Are No Longer Being Given the Same Rights as Others"

GAFFNEY: America's First Muslim President?
. . . Whether Mr. Obama actually is a Muslim or simply plays one in the presidency may, in the end, be irrelevant. What is alarming is that in aligning himself and his policies with those of Shariah-adherents such as the Muslim Brotherhood, the president will greatly intensify the already enormous pressure on peaceful, tolerant American Muslims to submit to such forces - and heighten expectations, here and abroad, that the rest of us will do so as well.

Hope and Change --- but Not for Iran --- by Charles Krauthammer
Millions of Iranians take to the streets to defy a theocratic dictatorship that, among its other finer qualities, is a self-declared enemy of America and the tolerance and liberties it represents. The demonstrators are fighting on their own, but they await just a word that America is on their side.

And what do they hear from the president of the United States? Silence. Then, worse. Three days in, the president makes clear his policy: continued "dialogue" with their clerical masters. . . .

ACLU Recommendations Would Mean "More Money for Hamas"
The American Civil Liberties Union released a report June 16 (together with a You Tube video) attacking the U.S. government's efforts to shut down terrorist-financing charities. The report was based on 120 interviews, 115 of which were conducted with Muslim community leaders and other Muslims "directly affected by" U.S. government policies regarding the charities.

It suggests (contrary to a substantial body of evidence) – that the U.S. government was wrong to have acted against the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development, the Al-Haramain Islamic Foundation, the Global Relief Foundation and other charities accused of raising money for terrorist organizations. The report also perpetuates the myth that the United States government may be planning to prosecute persons for unwittingly contributing to charities that were fronts for terrorism. . . .

Islamic Society Convention Lands Appearance from Rick Warren
The Indiana-based Islamic Society of North America will be holding its annual convention -- the largest yearly gathering of Muslims on the continent -- in Washington, D.C. over the Fourth of July weekend.

And while convention leaders are holding out hope that President Barack Obama might make the convention his latest stop in his outreach to the Muslim world, the convention has landed another pretty big fish as a featured speaker.

Purpose-Driven pastor Rick Warren has agreed to appear at the convention and be part of its main session discussing the convention's theme -- "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness." [Damn, they’re good, huh? Sounds so all-American . . .] Joining Warren for the session is ISNA President Ingrid Mattson and noted Muslim scholar Hamza Yusuf. Not exactly your moderate Muslims . . .

I suspect those who didn’t like Reverend Warren are not going to have their minds changed through this foolish move. Conservative, he’s supposed to be a conservative . . . Those people who think by putting out the olive branch to the Muslims they'll be successful in changing the Muslim mindset (and I'm assuming that Rev. Warren must have something along that line in mind) are just asking to have their hands bitten off.

Obama Bombs American History 101
SORRY, BARACK, BUT THERE WERE NO MUSLIMS ON THE MAYFLOWER
Speaking at the University of Cairo, President Barack Hussein Obama said that Americans are indebted to Islam for the great contributions Muslims have made to the history and development of the United States.

Sorry, Barack Hussein, but there were no Muslims among the passengers on the Mayflower or the settlers at Jamestown. Muslims were conspicuously absent from the ranks of George Washington’s Army of the Revolution and played no role in the creation of the American republic - - save for the fact that the new country’s first declaration of war was against the forces of Islam in the form of the Barbary pirates.

This is an excellent article full of lots of history of Muslim activity in the USA. This was a new blog to me; I’ll eventually update the blog w/a whole batch of books and DVDs and blogs or Web sites which I haven’t had time to do yet.

This blog also gives a lot of up-to-date info on the violence in Iran.

MAS national director Mahdi Bray called the story his group paid for Ellison's pilgrimage a "myth" and "urban legend" that needed to be laid to rest.

CAIR-NY Welcomes City Council Vote on Muslim Holidays in Schools
The New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-NY) today joined a coalition of community organizations in welcoming the passage of a resolution by a committee of the city council that calls for adding Muslim holidays to the school calendar.

Resolution 1281, passed overwhelmingly by the New York City Council Education Committee, calls on the "New York City Department of Education to incorporate the Muslim holidays of Eid Ul-Fitr and Eid Ul-Adha as observed school holidays in the school calendar for the city school district of the city of New York" and also asks that the state legislature "pass, and the Governor to sign into law, A.8108/S.5837, an Act to amend the education law, in relation to requiring that Eid Ul-Fitr and Eid Ul-Adha be school holidays in the city school district of the city of New York."

You would think, of all the cities in the United States, the citizens of New York City would be brighter than this. The NYCCEC has just allowed all the children in NYC to accept the idea that an Islamic “holy” day is equal in meaning and importance to, say, Christmas or Chanukah.

Pentagon Exam Calls Protests "Low-Level Terrorism," Angering Activists
A written exam administered by the Pentagon labels "protests" as a form of “low-level terrorism” — enraging civil liberties advocates and activist groups who say it shows blatant disregard of the First Amendment.

The written exam, given as part of Department of Defense employees’ routine training, includes a multiple-choice question that asks: “Which of the following is an example of low-level terrorism?”
— Attacking the Pentagon
— IEDs
— Hate crimes against racial groups
— Protests
The correct answer, according to the exam, is "Protests." . . .

I think I'm even annoyed at the headline. ". . . angering activists." Who's Fox considering to be activists?

Judge: Group Can't Walk with Lit[erature] at Mich[igan] Festival
A federal judge has denied an evangelical Christian group's request for permission to hand out literature on sidewalks at an Arab festival in the heart of the Detroit area's Middle Eastern community.

U.S. District Judge Nancy Edmunds on Thursday denied Anaheim, Calif.-based Arabic Christian Perspective's request for a temporary restraining order.

The group sued the city of Dearborn after police told them they would need to restrict literature distribution to a designated table & booth section of the 3-day Arab International Festival, which opens Friday.

The city says public safety concerns require the limitation and say other Christian and Muslim groups already have tables or booths at the festival.

Update 6/18/09: A federal judge sided with the city of Dearborn today in a dispute with a Christian group over the distribution of religious literature during an upcoming Arab festival. The decision stems from a lawsuit filed this week by a Christian group that says the city of Dearborn is denying it the right to roam the Arab International Festival to hand out religious literature.

U.S. District Judge Nancy Edmunds denied a motion from the Christian group for a temporary restraining order that would have prohibited the city from restricting the group from handing out literature, according to a release from the group’s attorneys.

Dearborn Mayor Jack O’Reilly Jr. said the city strongly believes in free speech and has at least two other Christian groups who will be at the festival handing out information. O’Reilly said the California group, like other groups, is restricted to one place because of crowd control issues.

Gee, imagine this happening in Dearborn, Michigan, huh? And this is all about “crowd control issues.” Really. How does it help crowd control to keep one group of people from walking around in the crowd?

El Paso Gets $5.4M Grant to Improve Planning in Case of Terror Attack, Disaster
A $5.4 million federal grant awarded to the city of El Paso is designed to help law enforcement agencies avoid some of the mistakes made in New York City during the 9/11 terrorist attacks, officials announced Wednesday.

The money is for fiscal year 2009, which will start on Sept. 1, and will be used to improve communication between various law-enforcement agencies in the region; to create a tactical "fusion" center in which intelligence from state, local and federal agencies can be shared and analyzed; and to buy and coordinate standardized breathing equipment to be used by local fire departments.

The city of El Paso will spearhead a regional effort to improve planning and communication in case of a terrorist attack or disaster, Mayor John Cook said. . . .

I don’t suppose I should turn up my nose at $5.4M, but somehow, what with our daily inundation of the words “billions” and “trillions,” this doesn’t sound like much, somehow.

[ONLY] 32% See Better U.S. Relationship With Muslim World
Fewer than one-third of voters nationwide (32%) believe most Islamic nations want to have a positive and peaceful relationship with the United States.
Just prior to the now disputed Iranian election, 62% of voters said Iran should be required to stop developing its nuclear weapons capabilities before a meeting is allowed between the Iranian president and the president of the United States.

Only 31% think the United States will be the most powerful nation in the world at the end of the 21st century.

My granddaughters might still be around then . . . the oldest of the two could be 94, then. When I think of it that way, it sounds really awful that there's even a chance (and I don't disagree that it's certainly possible) that the U.S. will be just another middling country in a world of . . . what? I can't actually imagine it.

Ramifications of a Possibly Armed Muslim Brotherhood
. . . Last summer, the Brotherhood's Deputy Supreme Guide acknowledged there remains an active wing of the organization in the U.S. [which we think of as Homegrown Jihad] which "are part of the American society and they want to an active positive role in it." In response to an interviewer's question, Mohammed Habib acknowledged a "relationship" between CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood.

The existence of an armed Muslim Brotherhood should refocus the way the U.S. government engages the various U.S.-based organizations that are rooted in the Brotherhood. Surely, such organizations that have supportive or operational links to a foreign, armed militant group that is dedicated, through violence if necessary, to the establishment of an Islamic new world order should be high on the investigative target list of U.S. intelligence, law enforcement and security agencies. . . .

A.C.L.U. Report Says Antiterror Fight Undercuts Liberty of Muslim Donors
The fight against terrorism has dealt a harsh blow to Muslim charities and interfered with their donors’ religious freedom, a new report by the American Civil Liberties Union concludes.

The report says statutes that it describes as overly broad and enforced in a discriminatory manner, coupled with a lack of due process, have starved Islamic charities of money and impeded Muslims’ ability to fulfill zakat, their religious requirement to make charitable donations.

The report is based on interviews with more than 100 Muslim community leaders as well as experts on antiterrorism laws and regulations. Though it gives no estimate of the decline in donations to Muslim groups, it says a total of nine Islamic charities have closed as a result of government action against them since the Sept. 11 attacks. . . .

Gitmo Gall: Charges Dropped Against Cole Bombing Jihadist
The Pentagon’s senior judge overseeing terror trials at Guantanamo Bay dropped charges Thursday against an al-Qaida suspect in the 2000 USS Cole bombing, upholding President Barack Obama’s order to freeze military tribunals there. The charges against suspected al-Qaida bomber Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri marked the last active Guantanamo war crimes case.

The legal move by Susan J. Crawford, the top legal authority for military trials at Guantanamo, brings all cases into compliance with Obama’s Jan. 22 executive order to halt terrorist court proceedings at the U.S. Navy base in Cuba.

Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell said Crawford dismissed the charges against al-Nashiri without prejudice. That means new charges can be brought again later. He will remain in prison for the time being. . . .

Bill Clinton to Arab Americans: World Must Embrace Diversity
Washington -- Former President Bill Clinton told a gathering of Arab Americans on Saturday night that the increasingly interdependent world must learn to embrace diversity or risk perishing.

Alternating between humor and heavy philosophizing, Clinton pointed to scientific breakthroughs, spiritual texts, the recent economic meltdown and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to deliver a near 40-minute-long message that the world's survival depends on people learning to take pride in their identity without putting down others.

Addressing the stubborn conflicts in the Middle East, Clinton said, "It's all rooted in a sense of identity .... I hope you will tell everybody that your vision of America is one where you are deeply proud of who you are. And teach your children their ethnic heritage, their religious heritage, their cultural heritage, with no negative reference to anyone else. Because it's the only shot we've got to make the most of our interdependent world."

Well, this was a bit of a surprise. Clinton asking for something FROM these poor misunderstood US Muslims? Not that it’ll do any good. Dems/Libs just can’t get it thru their heads that the Followers of Muhammad do not WANT an “interdependent world.”

CAIR Losing Support From North to South
Separate events in Florida and Minnesota could indicate that more people are catching on to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and its duplicitous dealings.

In Tampa, Mayor Pam Iorio announced that she was breaking a pattern of designating "CAIR Day" in the city, as she had done since 2005. The decision followed protests from activist Joe Kaufman at Americans Against Hate, but Iorio insisted the decision resulted from her own research.

More significantly, dozens of people in Minneapolis protested outside a CAIR ice cream social for discouraging local Somalis from cooperating with the FBI. The protesters were friends and family of a local teenager believed to have been killed by terrorists in Somalia.

The more the CAIR leaders speaks, the more obvious it becomes that it’s in our best interests to just let them keep on exposing themselves for what they are . . .

Agents had intercepted information about a possible terrorist attack in Manhattan, including a diagram showing a mysterious device. The raw intelligence was relayed to experts in Washington, who offered a daunting diagnosis: "You have a problem."

As chilling as that sounded, the situation wasn't real. But authorities say it could be, and what followed over the next two days was an ambitious stress test of the city's line of defense against a radiological or nuclear terrorist attack. . . .

UNWRA to get $55 Million from US
(IsraelNN.com) The United States has agreed to provide the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) with an additional $55 million in funding, according an AP report. The latest pledge would bring the total the agency has received from the U.S. in 2009 [just in 2009?!] to $154.5 million.

The UNRWA was created in 1949 [multiply that by $154.5M!] to provide health, education, housing, and financial services to Palestinian Authority Arabs in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza.

WHO is it in the “United States” who “has agreed . . .”? Certainly not me.

Mubarak: Netanyahu Will Agree to Two States
“Israel will agree to the two-state solution," Mubarak said in an interview with Egyptian media on Wednesday, "I spoke with Netanyahu and told him there was no other option. Ultimately the solution will be one of two states – the State of Israel alongside an Arab state."

Mubarak said that Netanyahu did not counter his assertion.

Oh, say it ain't so, Joe. And so the world goes out with a whimper, not a bang. [Would whoever knows the author of that quote please let me know?]

Debate Erupts Over Muslim School in Virginia
FAIRFAX, Va. — For years, children’s voices rang out from the playground at the Islamic Saudi Academy in this heavily wooded community about 20 miles west of Washington. But for the last year the campus has been silent as academy officials seek county permission to erect a new classroom building and move hundreds of students from a sister campus on the other end of Fairfax County.

The proposal from the academy, which a school spokeswoman said was the only school financed by the Saudi government in the United States, [and this is something they want to crow about? And is it true that's it's the "only"?] has ignited a noisy debate and exposed anew the school’s uneasy relationship with its neighbors.

. . . others object to the academy’s curriculum, saying it espouses a fundamentalist interpretation of Islam known as Wahhabism. A leaflet slipped into mailboxes in early spring called the school “a hate-training academy.” . . .

Kamal S. Suliman, 46, a state traffic engineer with three daughters at the academy, called the accusations “fear tactics and stereotyping.” . . .

The term "stereotyping," or "stereotypes" has just begun to show up in the Muslim buzzword scatology. Probably the work of the Ikhwan.

A 10-year Truce Between Islam and the West
Rome – From the bosom of the world Muslim community, two contrasting voices have been distinctly heard in the wake of President Obama's speech in Cairo. One, arising from the extremists, exhorts jihad.

The other, arising from throngs of approving moderates, wants his promises delivered.

The voices of the extremists were comparatively feeble, and that is of the utmost significance: It means that the overwhelming majority of the Muslim community is poised to accept new proposals coming from Washington, provided they are bold and far-reaching. . . .

Oh, bunk. This is an article from the Christian Monitor, which recently told us that we had to agree to most anything the Muslims wanted or else there’d never be peace in the world. Give in, give in, give in! This reporter has no real clue what’s in the Islamic mind.

Muhammad broke the first 10-year treaty with the Meccans. There's never ever been a successful 10-year treaty w/Muslims. The CM is dreaming about something that will never be.

Iraq Spy from Sterling Heights [Michigan] Gets 46 Months
A Sterling Heights man who pleaded guilty to aiding Iraq without approval from the U.S. government was sentenced today to 46 months in prison.

“I apologize to the court for what happened,” said Najib Shemami, 62, who was born in Iraq but later because [became?] a U.S. citizen [why? Because we have no clue as to why any follower of Islam becomes a US citizen?]. “Trust me. I swear to God I didn’t mean no harm to no one.”

Federal prosecutors had recommended nearly four years in prison for Shemami, who pleaded guilty to a violation of the international emergency economic powers act in January.

U.S District Court Judge Nancy Edmunds agreed with the recommendation, saying today that Shemami's activity created the "terrible potential to undermine the security of the United States."

And once again, our judges and juries get it right. Apparently, no one trusted him.

An Atlanta man with ties to members of the so-called Toronto 18 [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_Toronto_terrorism_case] terror cell has been convicted of plotting to aid a terrorist group by videotaping landmarks around Washington, D.C.

U.S. District Judge Bill Duffey found Syed Haris Ahmed, 24, guilty of conspiracy to provide material support to terrorism in the U.S. and abroad.

Ahmed faces up to 15 years in prison. The judge delayed sentencing until co-defendant Ehsanul Islam Sadequee's trial begins in August.

Dorrie's Picks, 6/10/09

This is a note I received from a friend, and a blast list member. I think she sums up in a few words what a lot of us wonder about --- can we tell our kids the truth? Yes.

Well, Dorrie, I knew the opportunity would arise . . . several of my 6th graders watched a 9/11 video before coming to my class. I asked them who made the terrorist acts against America, and they said “bad people.” I asked who they were specifically, and they had no clue.

I wrote “jihadists,” and "terrorist Muslims” on the board and told them they are our enemy. Most of my students are Hispanic, so they are well aware of the border shootings and gang operations there. I told them most of the money for buying the guns, and bombs, and terrorist materials, is being supplied by terrorist Muslims. They said that was scary!

I told them that they are out future, and they need to know who their enemy will always be in terms of terrorist acts. I also told them that terrorist Muslims want everyone to convert their way of life and their religious beliefs, or there will be bad consequences.

I have had no feedback from parents and administrators, yet, and that was last week. Couldn't help myself, I felt emboldened to let the kids know just the tip of the iceberg of reality. ---Kay A.

Judge Issues Gag Order in GI-shooting Case
Little Rock District Judge Alice Lightle issued a gag order Monday in the case of the man accused of killing one U.S. Army soldier and wounding another outside a west Little Rock recruiting office last week.

Pulaski County Prosecuting Attorney Larry Jegley requested that Lightle issue an order barring "police agencies" and defense and prosecution attorneys and their staffs from commenting publicly on the case of Abdul-Hakim Mujahid Muhammad, 23.

Jegley said Friday he planned to seek the order in large part because Hensley granted extensive interviews and spoke at length about the case. Jegley said his preference was to try the case in court --- not in the press. . . .

Christian and Muslim Get in Religious Argument in a Bar . . .
. . . Of course, he was in a bar, and so he probably wasn’t drinking apple juice, and so this has nothing to do with jihad, right? Maybe not. But when one comes from a culture of violent intransigence regarding religion, this kind of thing is going to happen.

Watch for the BBC dramatization of this event, with just one minor detail change: in the BBC version, the Christian will shoot the Muslim.

Meanwhile, note the NBCSandiego.com headline — as if this sort of thing happens all the time when people argue about religion in bars. . . .

So, in the past two weeks or so, we’ve had an American convert to Islam shoot and kill a military man in Arkansas (and wound another), a Muslim shoot a Christian in a bar (what on earth was the Muslim doing in a bar? He was faithful enough to kill someone in his religious righteousness, but not faithful enough to not drink? It’s a priority thing, I guess) in San Diego, and we’ve had a young woman stabbed to death by a Muslim while the woman was getting on a bus.

And only one of these stories sneaked past the MSM blockade.

Ex-Tech Student Found Guilty on Terrorism Charge
Father: Ahmed “not guilty of any crimes in the eyes of Allah”
Moments after his son was convicted Wednesday of a terrorism conspiracy, Syed Riaz Ahmed said the young man never harmed anyone and committed nothing more than thought crimes.

“You think something and you’re guilty of something,” said Ahmed, somber and weary as he stood outside a federal courtroom. “He’s not guilty of any crimes in the eyes of Allah. ---There are no crimes that Allah does not condone, so he’s hardly an unbiased judge. He’s guilty of U.S. laws.” ---And he lives in the U.S., right?

U.S. Attorney David Nahmias said Ahmed’s case did not involve an imminent threat, “because in the post-9/11 world we will not wait to disrupt terrorism-related activity until a bomb is built and ready to explode.”

President Obama to American Muslims: I Will Ease the Impact of Post-9/11 Scrutiny of Charities ---Good God.
Tucked away in President Obama's historic speech in Cairo Thursday was a promise to American Muslims to ease the impact of post-9/11 scrutiny of their charities.

. . . Ever since the World Trade Center attacks, fund-raising by American Muslims has come under repeated federal investigations for possible support of terrorism. ---Which surely doesn’t have anything to do with the fact that the Islamic charities ARE funneling money to terrorists, I suppose?

Dorrie's Picks, 6/9/09

I’ve been gone from the RSN for quite awhile, from mid-April to now, in fact. Many of you know why: Success on one front has taken time from several others.

Quite a bit has happened on the world stage while I’ve been absent from this one. I thought I’d just list some, in no particular order, in a manner of “catching up,” so that I can just begin Dorrie’s Picks with tomorrow’s news.

So, here goes:
The U.S. State Department issued a CAIR propaganda booklet titled “Being Muslim in America.” ---Now really, was that a good use of my tax dollars? It's not like they don't know why they're here.

Hawaii voted to make 9/24 an annual state “Islam Day.” The bill seeks to recognize "the rich religious, scientific, cultural and artistic contributions" that Islam and the Islamic world have made. ---Well, I guess we know why the governor is so sympathetic about keeping Mr. Obama’s birth certificate locked up.

Four Muslim men were arrested before they could bomb a NY synagogue. ---The plot failed thanks to information the police would not otherwise have received if it hadn’t been for the establishment of the Patriot Act.

Geert Wilders’ PVV party is now the second largest party in the EU. ---Lord Ahmed in London is probably apoplectic. Perhaps he should have his 10,000 thugs protest in the streets of London.

Captain Phillips of the USS Bainbridge almost died before Mr. Obama allowed the SEALS to do their thing and kill the Muslim Somali pirates who were holding Phillips hostage. ---Those SEALs were amazing. Three shots at night on a rolling, raft-like thing in the Indian Ocean, and pop-pop-pop, three dead Muslim marauders.

A NY jury convicted a Lebanese-born Swede/al Qaeda Muslim of trying to set up a weapons-training post in Oregon, and for distributing terrorist materials on the Internet. ---I suspect some of you know why he was tried in NY and not Oregon, but I don’t. And no, don't tell me; I really don't care; I'm just glad the citizens of NY continue the proud pattern of locking up the terrorists in our country.

Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad (born Carlos Bledsoe) killed a soldier and wounded another at a military recruiting center in Little Rock, AK. “While authorities continued to investigate a motive, Thomas said Muhammad is a Muslim convert and, based on preliminary interviews with him, investigators believe there were "political and religious motives" in the shooting.” ---Duh.

This is a link to a VIDEO showing a Muslim woman who bewailed Muhammad’s act, but then by her own words, showed why Muhammad can think as far-out screwed up as he does. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqopnIAnmAw

The U.S. District Court of Michigan denied USG’s motion to dismiss the AIG-Sharia lawsuit. ---Yay! So the lawsuit against AIG goes forward.

The BBC appointed a Muslim as head of its Religious Programming department. ---Is that messed up, or what?

An Ohio State University student was stabbed to death by Wael W. Kalash, a Muslim who ran for safe haven in a mosque after he killed the woman. Police say she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time; Kalash is just a crazy kinda guy, and whoda tho't he'd go and do something so crazy?---Will this same kind of “he’s crazy” excuse work for Muhammad in Arkansas?

BHO allowed secret info on the CIA’s interrogation techniques to get out to the MSM. ---Further proving, in my opinion, that BHO is a traitor to the country. Then again, since he’s likely not a U.S. citizen, he can’t be a traitor, just a high-level spy.

Arif Alikhan, currently the appointed deputy mayor for the city of Los Angeles, has been appointed as assistant secretary for the Office of Policy Development at the Department of Homeland Security. ---He’s a Sunni Muslim. DHS obviously thinks like the BBC, oh joy. It's just a show; doesn't mean anything, I guess.

NC State Senator and CAIR Board Member Larry Shaw was a guest of honor and keynote speaker at the Islamic Center of Irving (TX). ---I know how the ACT! chapter leader in North Carolina feels about having the second highest-ranking U.S. elected official (behind Keith Ellison of MN) in his state. You fill in his words. You’ll be close, I’m sure.

The Holy Land Foundation founders were sentenced to as much as 65-year terms. ---YAY!

CAIR-Los Angles told the FBI that mosques were off-limits to spying. FBI Director Robert Mueller said, [and this is not a direct quote] “No, they’re not. Take at look at the records, guys. Your mosques are not squeaky clean, after all.” The response from CAIR: [and this is a quote] “. . . It doesn’t alleviate anything. It only continues to show the sheer arrogance demonstrated by the bureau in holding Muslim community members, clerics, mosques, as suspects . . .” ---Well, look who’s calling the kettle black.

The fellow in Tennessee who wanted to open a bar that was less than 300 feet away from a mosque won his case in court, and he’s open for business! ---Another win for our side!

DHS' Napolitano labeled Republicans and U.S. Vets, and those who want the border closed, as “right-wing extremists.” ---Okay. Some titles you can just be proud of.

GM filed for bankruptcy, but few took notice because of . . . THE SPEECH. ---And what a complete waste of good English words that was.

Closing Arguments Begin in Terror Trial
A federal prosecutor called six South Florida men would-be terrorists who pledged allegiance to Osama Bin Laden during closing arguments in their terrorism trial.

The prosecutor said Thursday the so-called Liberty City Six wanted to wage war against the United States and blow up Chicago's Sears Tower.

A defense attorney said the men were manipulated victims of the FBI and two government informants paid tax free to induce the defendants to pledge allegiance to al-Qaida and plan terrorist acts to kill millions.

A Pakistani immigrant whom a prosecutor called "Hizbullah's man in New York City" was sentenced to nearly six years in prison on Thursday, for airing the Lebanese terrorist group's television station.

Javed Iqbal was ordered by a federal judge in Manhattan on Thursday to serve five years and nine months for putting the broadcasts of Al Manar among stations he sent to customers in New York.

Prosecutor Eric Snyder said Iqbal helped the TV station get out Hizbullah's message, noting that the terror group had killed more Americans than any other terrorist group before September 11, 2001.

Iqbal's lawyer Josh Dratel said his client didn't intend to aid Hizbullah as he tried to build his television station distribution company.

Harvard’s Muslim Chaplain Embroiled in Death-for-Apostasy Controversy
In an e-mail to an unnamed student, the chaplain, Taha Abdul-Basser, stated that most traditional authorities on Islamic law agree that in countries under Muslim governance, the proper punishment for apostasy — that is, rejection of Islam by a former Muslim — is death. . . .

In a subsequent statement . . . Abdul-Basser said that he was simply explaining to a student the traditional position of Islamic legal scholars, not advocating their viewpoint.

“I have never expressed the position that individuals who leave Islam or convert from Islam to another religion must be killed. I do not hold this opinion personally,” Abdul-Basser wrote, adding that the “wisdom” he referred to simply described the skill of the scholars who have historically debated the laws on apostasy.

So, is this the Muslim version of He Was For It Before He Was Against It?

Judge to Review Guantanamo Detainees' Confinement Under New Obama Rule
A federal judge has signaled he will move quickly to decide whether terrorism suspects can continue to be held at Guantanamo Bay under a new Obama rule.

U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton has given attorneys for the detainees 12 days to file arguments for why he should grant an expedited judgment for their release under the new standard. That standard, announced last month by the Obama administration, said prisoners at the U.S. naval base in Cuba can only be detained if they substantially supported Al Qaeda, the Taliban or other associated forces.

Walton was critical of the Obama administration for refusing to define what "substantial support" means . . .

Time to Update Islamic Law
“. . . it is important that we understand what is meant by Shariah law. Islamic law is about God's law, and it is not that far from what we read in the Declaration of Independence about "the Laws of Nature and Nature's God."

The Declaration says "men are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable Rights; that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

At the core of Shariah law are God's commandments, revealed in the Old Testament and revised in the New Testament and the Quran. The principles behind American secular law are similar to Shariah law - that we protect life, liberty and property, that we provide for the common welfare, that we maintain a certain amount of modesty.

What Muslims want is to ensure that their secular laws are not in conflict with the Quran or the Hadith, the sayings of Muhammad. . . .

This is an utter junk comparison. It's straight out of the Muslim Brotherhood handbook for "fooling gullible Americans."

The Obama administration plans to create a new military command to focus on Pentagon computer networks and offensive capabilities in cyberwarfare, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday, citing current and former officials familiar with the plans.

The initiative will reshape the military's efforts to protect its networks from attacks by hackers, especially those from countries such as China and Russia, the newspaper said.

Not having noticed, I suppose, that there’s anything going on in the Middle East.

Judge to Review Records of FBI Inquiries Into Muslim Groups
A federal judge in Santa Ana orders the FBI to turn over more than 100 pages of documents the agency has on 11 Muslim groups and activists who claim they have been unfairly spied on and questioned.

U.S. District Judge Cormac J. Carney ordered the FBI to turn over more than 100 pages of documents the agency holds on 11 Muslim activists and organizations, to determine whether the information should be released to the public or protected under federal law.

The decision comes amid a nearly three-year battle by the American Civil Liberties Union and the Muslim groups to obtain records they say would prove the FBI is unlawfully targeting Muslims in Southern California.

Carney also said the FBI must broaden its search for records on the Council on American-Islamic Relations to include electronic surveillance, as the agency did for the other plaintiffs.

Marcia Sowles, an attorney for the Department of Justice, told the court the FBI may seek to keep some information private because of national security or privacy concerns once Carney's review is complete.

The records "do concern investigations of others because they were identified through cross-references and the plaintiffs were not the subjects of those investigations," Sowles told the judge.

The unindicted co-conspirators of CAIR win one -- and this travesty puts us on the road to granting de facto immunity from investigation to Muslim groups. And this at a time when we have no assurance whatsoever that jihadist teachings are not being spread in mosques in the U.S.”—Robert Spencer, JihadWatch, 4/22/09

Edina Lekovic Attended Muslim Victimfest in Los Angeles
Patrick Poole has kindly written in to point out that yesterday's Los Angeles Times story in which Muslims complained about the FBI (comments here) featured a photo showing that none other than Edina Lekovic was at the meeting.

She is second from left in the photo above. [See article]

Who is Edina Lekovic?

She is the MPAC flack whom Steve Emerson caught lying on national television, denying she was editor of a Muslim student publication that praised Osama bin Laden as a great mujahid -- Emerson produced copies of the rag showing Lekovic's name on the masthead as editor on the very same page on which the praise for Osama appeared.

Says Patrick: "Considering the crowd (Ayloush, Lekovic, Agha Saeed), it would have been entirely appropriate for the FBI to spy on that meeting."

Somali Muslims Call FBI Outreach “Coercion”
Concerns about racial profiling and other questionable tactics used to investigate the possible terrorist recruitment of Somalis living in the United States are prompting some Muslim leaders in St. Louis and elsewhere to limit their cooperation with the FBI. [It never struck me as particularly without boundaries before now, so what’s the diff?]

Across the country, federal agents are intensifying efforts to make connections within the Somali community amid growing concern that some are being radicalized by al-Qaida-affiliated terrorists.

Racial profiling. Good grief. What they’re torqued about is that the FBI is aware that the Somali Muslims are jihadists.]

Some Influential Muslim Groups Question FBI's Actions
Muslims attend a know-your-rights workshop at the Islamic Institute of Orange County.
Revelations that the agency has been surveilling popular leaders and infiltrating mosques and schools has many organizations turning away from their post-9/11 cooperation.

Yeah, right. Post-9/11 cooperation. Hint, guys: If you don’t have anything to hide, you don’t have to worry about being under surveillance . . .

"We're here today to say our mosques are off limits," Hussam Ayloush, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations for Greater Los Angeles, told the crowd last month at an Anaheim mosque.

"Our Koran is off limits," Ayloush said. "Our youth, who they try to radicalize, are off limits. Now is the time to tell them, 'We're not going to let this happen anymore.' "

This is great. “I’m mad and I’m not going to take it anymore!” So go away, you inferior little FBI kafirs.

CAIR Director Present Award to NJ Muslim Law Enforcement Officers
The executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) on Saturday presented an award to the American Muslim Law Enforcement Officers Association (AMLEOA) at the annual banquet of the council’s New Jersey chapter.

More than 300 people turned out for the event in Edison, New Jersey. Rashida Tlaib, the first Muslim woman to be elected to the Michigan Legislature, spoke about the important role of Muslims in the political process. CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad also addressed the crowd, and presented CAIR-New Jersey’s 2009 Champions of Justice Award to AMLEOA “for outstanding service to the community.”

CAIR, America's largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization, has 35 offices and chapters nationwide and in Canada. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding.

CAIR’s mission is to destroy the United States.

Egyptian-born US Muslim to Advise White House
The first Muslim woman appointed to a position in President Barack Obama’s administration met with lawmakers Monday and discussed her role on an interfaith advisory board the new administration hopes will broaden dialogue and understanding.

Dalia Mogahed’s dimpled smile shined from under her hijab, [oh, please] the Muslim headscarf, as she addressed senate staff and think tanks at a meeting organized by the Congressional Muslims Staffers Association to discuss American Muslim public opinion in the wake of a recent survey.

The Egyptian-born American who heads the Gallup American Center for Muslim Studies a non-governmental research center providing data-driven analysis on the views of Muslim populations around the world, became the first Muslim veiled woman to be appointed to a position in the White House.

The junior president from Kenya’s mission seems to match CAIR’s pretty closely.

Kenya Muslims Fume at Church Move to Convert Obama Grandma
A Protestant church in Kenya is trying to convert US President Barack Obama's step-grandmother to Christianity against her will, a Muslim group said Monday, condemning the move as provocation. . . .

According to relatives in her village of Kogelo, "Mama Sarah," as she is popularly known in the US president's paternal homeland, was surprised by the offer and declined to attend. . . .

And why would she? Her grandson doesn’t.
