Terrorism analyst, former CIA officer to speak at UM
Former CIA officer and author Michael Scheuer will give the next installment of the President's Lecture Series at the University of Montana.

In his 22-year career with the CIA, Scheuer served as the chief of the Bin Laden Issue Station and the Osama bin Laden tracking unit at the Counterterrorist Center. He also worked as special adviser to the chief of the bin Laden unit from 2001 to 2004.

Scheuer will talk about how America's political leaders and citizens have generally misunderstood the motivation of bin Laden, al-Qaida and their steadily increasing number of Islamist allies. He argues that Islamist militants are attacking America because of what it does in the Islamic world and not because of the way America's people think, vote, behave, and believe or not believe in God.

Editor’s note: Below is the text of the address that Dutch parliamentarian Geert Wilders was invited to deliver at the House of Lords on Thursday, February 12, 2009. Instead of making this address and showing his film Fitna, he was detained by UK immigration officials on his arrival at London Heathrow airport and sent back to the Netherlands as a risk to “public security.”

Thank you for inviting me. Thank you Lord Pearson and Lady Cox for showing Fitna, and for your gracious invitation. While others look away, you seem to understand the true tradition of your country, and a flag that still stands for freedom.

Wilders' ban is in Britain's best interests (says the fox to the hen)
His film encourages violence from both extremist Muslims and far-right groups: despite abuse and threats, I stand by my actions

When I found out that Geert Wilders was planning to come to Britain and that Baroness Cox and Lord Pearson wanted to show his film, I wrote to the Home Office, the leader of the House of Lords and Black Rod to say that his presence would lead to the incitement of religious and racial hatred, which constitutes a public order offence.

I pointed out that Wilders is already facing a serious charge in his home country for inciting racial hatred. Furthermore, Cox and Pearson could hardly use an argument for free speech to justify giving him this platform because Wilders himself is calling for the banning of the Qur'an.

Wilders' film, Fitna, takes a lot of Qur'anic verses out of context [apparently, this is a man who hasn't ever read the Qur'an; everything is out of context] and relates them to some terrible terrorist events, connecting them as though such acts are a religious teaching. I thought this would lead to extremist groups from both sides – far-right organisations like the BNP and extremist Muslims – rallying behind him.

No, you thought people have the brains to connect the dots and see the picture Wilders makes. ---DOB

Geert Wilders to sue Jacqui Smith over decision to deport controversial film-maker
Dutch MP Geert Wilders is "seriously considering" taking steps to sue Jacqui Smith over her decision to ban the controversial film-maker from the UK.

The legal action would have the backing of the Dutch Government, in a move which could aggravate the diplomatic row over the ban between London and Amsterdam.

Mr Wilders said he was looking to take legal action against the Home Secretary for "blatant discrimination" in the High Court or International Court in the Hague.

Preserving ‘Harmony’ for Islamic Radicals

It's worse than you think. I sent a link of Andy McCarthy's piece to my friend in the UK and here is what she wrote me:

Whilst I may not agree with Wilders, he has a right to voice his opinion and I would be interested in hearing his ideas. But we no longer have free speech in the true sense here.

Brown is weak and a terrible unelected PM - if you remember he took Tony Blair's role when T.B. stepped down. The man crumbles regularly in front of our very eyes every time he is on tv. Disaster has a habit of following him around.

I would also add, Ken Livingstone our former Mayor of London entertained an extreme Muslim group a few years ago (can't remember their name right now) who amongst other things were violently anti-gay. For some reason, that was okay.

As from a few nights ago, all emails and telephone calls and texts are being saved and logged in this country. So even our most private thoughts are being monitored. ---Love, A.

Afghan diplomat Mohammed Fagirad charged in all-day wife beating

An Afghan diplomat was charged Friday with beating his wife "like a dog" for more than 15 hours in their Queens home, prosecutors said.

Mohammed Fagirad, 30, a vice consul at the Afghanistan Consulate, brutalized his wife inside their Flushing home from about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday until nearly midnight, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said.

During the attack, Fagirad bit, slapped, choked and beat the 22-year-old woman with a belt, pushed her down a flight of stairs and sat on her chest, prosecutors said.

At one point, prosecutors said, Fagirad threw his wife up against a wall, held her there by the neck and then let her drop to the floor, where he beat her with a belt.

Fagirad told police his "wife was a dog and he was going to treat her like a dog," prosecutors said.
When Fagirad left the home, his wife fled and went to the 109th Precinct stationhouse, where she filed a domestic violence report, prosecutors said. She then returned home.

When Fagirad returned, he demanded his wife's cell phone and called police to file a counterclaim, [I suspect that was: "I didn't do it"] prosecutors said.

Calif. polygamist gets life term for family abuses
A self-proclaimed polygamist was sentenced Friday to seven consecutive life prison terms for torturing seven of his 19 children, abusing four others and imprisoning two of his three wives.
Mansa Musa Muhummed, 55, was also sentenced to additional terms totaling 16 years and eight months by Riverside County Superior Court Judge F. Paul Dickerson III, who said Muhummed's treatment of his family amounted to "a reign of terror over defenseless children."

Jilted man jailed for fire attack
A Pakistani man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison by a French court for setting fire to an ex-girlfriend who had refused to marry him.

Amer Mushtaq Butt doused the woman with petrol and set her alight as she was leaving her home in a Paris suburb.

Chahrazad Belayni, a 21-year-old Moroccan-born woman, suffered third-degree burns to 60% of her body.

The case has highlighted violence against women in poor urban communities with large Muslim populations.

No, it should be highlighting the fact that it's okay for Muslim men to kill and/or beat the living daylights out of their females and see nothing wrong with it, in whatever economic state they're in, .---DOB

German-Afghan gets life for "honour killing"
A German-Afghan man was sentenced to life in prison for the “honour killing” of his sister on Friday, creating mayhem in the court room as family members screamed, assaulted journalists and attempted suicide

The 24-year-old Ahmad-Sobair O. was convicted of murdering his 16-year-old sister Morsal O. on May 15, 2008 because she had turned away from her family. The girl died after suffering 23 stab wounds in a Sankt Georg district parking lot in Hamburg. Both siblings, who immigrated to Germany 13 years ago, have German citizenship.

He also yelled that had the trial taken place in Kabul, Afghanistan, he would have already been released long ago.

Model Legislation Related to Domestic Terrorist Training Camps
A Model BILL to enact provisions to enhance enforcement related to domestic terrorist training camps.

Be it enacted as follows:
§ 101 Aiding and Abetting Training for Acts of Terrorism.
Any person who recklessly assists, provides land or other resources or otherwise aides the training of one or more persons intending to commit an act of terrorism in the Commonwealth or anywhere else shall be guilty of aiding and abetting acts of terrorism in violation of § 18.2-46.5.

§ 102 Probable Cause for Searching Closed Community Compound
A. The following factors taken singly or together as circumstances may warrant may constitute probable cause for search and seizure of the evidence of criminal activity related to unlawful paramilitary activity, acts of terrorism, violations of 18.2-512 to 18.2-517; conspiring to commit offenses under title 18.2, as the case may be, authorizing the search of each structure within a closed community compound:

1. evidence of two or more criminal acts on separate occasions by two or more persons who are residents of or visitors to a closed community compound when each criminal act involves one or more of the following: weapons, drugs, theft, carjacking, vandalism, robbery, kidnapping, acts of terrorism (including aiding and abetting), paramilitary activity, fraud (including welfare fraud) under any commonwealth or federal law, other crimes of violence, other crimes involving theft or dishonesty;

2. The presence of persons without legal authority to be in the United States;

3. Neighbor reports of frequent gunfire or explosions from a closed community compound;

4. Reports from other law enforcements agencies that fugitives are being harbored in a closed community compound:

5. Having a history of harboring known fugitives, whether or not charged or convicted of an offense.

These factors may be taken into consideration with other factors which may justify a search and seizure.

B. The following definitions apply for the purposes of this section:

“Closed community compound” means a community with limited public access reputed to be bound together by a common purpose or ideology.

“Limited access” means access only by private roads or paths or by public roads but where the community as a practical matter limits public access.

“Community” means a group of residences or dwelling structures located on common land or contiguous parcels.

§ 103 Seizure of property used in connection with or derived from terrorism.
A. The following property shall be subject to lawful seizure by any law-enforcement officer charged with enforcing the provisions of Article 2.2 (§ 18.2-46.4 et seq.) of Chapter 4 of Title 18.2: all moneys or other property, real or personal, together with any interest or profits derived from the investment of such money and used in substantial connection with an act of terrorism as defined in § 18.2-46.4 or aiding and abetting acts of terrorist as defined in§18.2-46.5.

B. All seizures and forfeitures under this section shall be governed by the procedures contained in Chapter 22.1 (§ 19.2-386.1 et seq.) of this title.

Watch out for Al Qeada

Bin Laden believes that Al Qaeda can bring about the economic collapse of the United States -- and to achieve this goal, he has adopted a strategy of targeting America's financial centers and economic infrastructure.
