“Judges should interpret the Constitution according to other nations' legal ‘norms.’" "Sharia law could apply to disputes in US courts." "The United States constitutes an 'axis of disobedience' [wow!] along with North Korea and Saddam-era Iraq."

Those are the views of the man on track to become one of the US government's top lawyers: Harold Koh.

A New York lawyer, Steven Stein, says that, in addressing the Yale Club of Greenwich in 2007, Koh claimed that "in an appropriate case, he didn't see any reason why Sharia law would not be applied to govern a case in the United States." . . .

Clinton: "War On Terror" Phrase Won't Be Used
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says the Obama administration has indeed abandoned the term "global war on terror."

Clinton says that while she hasn't seen any specific orders, the new administration in Washington simply isn't using the phrase.

The term was a rallying cry for President Bush after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. But the use of the term "global war on terror" is widely disliked overseas. [By the enemy?]

Reporters asked Clinton about the phrase Monday as she headed to Europe for a week of diplomatic meetings. She said the absence of the "war on terror" language speaks for itself.

Pundits have noted the absence, but top administration figures have had little to say on the subject.

And how could they? You can’t talk if your tongue is tied in knots.

CIA Launches Recruitment Drive on Internet and TV
In a bid to fulfill a pledge by George W. Bush . . . to expand the agency's clandestine arm, advertisements have been placed on websites such as Career Builder, and on the online versions of The Economist and The Washington Post.

Leon Panetta, the new CIA director, will meet Muslim groups in cities such as Detroit to spearhead personally the new drive to recruit Arabic speakers. He recently lamented the fact that only 13 percent of CIA officers speak a foreign language, and just 22 percent come from minorities.

This is willfully playing blind, deaf, and dumb. I’ve read hundreds of emails from Arabic-speaking Jews and Christians who’ve volunteered to work for the CIA who have been turned away. Panetta knows nothing about them? I do, and I’m certainly on the outside of the flood the CIA must get. He has to go to Muslim groups to recruit those who can read, write, and speak Arabic? Nonsense.
